I had completely forgotten how involved Madoc was in Tate and Jared’s story, so seeing him again after reading Rival was totally awesome! Even though he was quite the asshole in high school and deserved every punch and kick, you can’t help but love him just a little bit. Since I read Bully so long ago, I had forgotten some of the details so it was almost like reading it for the first time. Dear lord, did that man aggravate the crap out of me!!! I wanted to sock him in the face so many times, but then other times I didn’t and ugh- this is what I mean by emotional roller-coaster!! On that subject, I had such a huge love/hate relationship with Jared. She’ll have you hating one second and loving the next. Which is one of the things I love about Penelope’s writing. And the connection you form with these characters is on a whole other level. The connection she creates between her characters is incredibly unique. Penelope Douglas’ writing is absolutely flawless. “It’s me, wiping away the last tear you’ll ever get.” “Do you know what this is?” I took my middle finger and patted the corner of my eye with it. They are all so unique, witty, and perfectly flawed. Tate and Jared’s story is entertaining, heart-wrenching, addicting, frustrating, and re-reading it after reading Rival was the best choice I ever made. My love for this book is still strong as hell! It is only suitable for ages 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual situations. ***This novel contains adult/mature young adult situations. I’m not going to let him bully me anymore. I even went to France for a year, just to avoid him.īut I’m done hiding from him now, and there’s no way in hell I’ll allow him to ruin my senior year. His pranks and rumors got more sadistic as time wore on, and I made myself sick trying to stay out of his way. I’ve been humiliated, shut out, and gossiped about all through high school.
